The image has a complicated technical background and I decided to model electrical izzet nodes in a 3D program.Īfter that I did color study on computer and value study on paper with pencils.Įverything was settled and all I had to do is just render the image till the end. One of the thumbnails was chosen and I did a sketch based on it. So I made new ones with more clear action. It was so obvious after her comment but I didn’t realize it while I drew sketches. Very interesting.įirst I did a bunch of quick thumbnail sketches and sent it to the art director.Īrt director, Dawn Murin, pointed out that it looks like the mage was getting hit by the lightning instead of firing it out. The mage focuses the lightnings from the nodes into one huge lightning bolt. I thought that I love dark grim worlds only, like Innistrad for example, but I worked on the Unstable whimsical set and had so much pleasure drawing these cards.

And you never know what you’ll like the most. It’s easy to get involved to any setting, most of it because every world is described with so many details, so many interesting features, conflicts.
